We’re not convinced Americans are as divided as the headlines often suggest. We don’t believe most people fit neatly into the extreme portraits painted of one political party or another. And we suspect many Americans don’t see their neighbors that way either. Of course, we could be wrong. That’s exactly why we started this project: to listen, learn, and better understand what Americans really think and experience. ### We Want to Hear from You We want to hear directly from Americans of all backgrounds: what’s on your mind, what challenges you’re facing, what changes you’d like to see, and what you value about life in this country. So we’re having conversations with anyone willing to share their story. Our goal is simple: to listen to real experiences and perspectives without filters, assumptions, or a predetermined narrative. There, we'll share our research, research methods, and our observations about the project. Don't Spin.* > > *Our mission is to record our conversations with people from all corners of America, > and publish them in their entirety, without any spin.* We’re traveling across the United States, meeting people along the way, and asking about their lives, experiences, hopes, concerns, and views on the country. We want to hear what life in America feels like from the people living it: what they love, what they worry about, and what they hope will change.   ### Our Challenge One of our biggest challenges will be connecting with people across a wide range of backgrounds, communities, ages, and experiences. If we’re lucky, we may speak with a couple of people each week — about 100 conversations a year. Since we’ll also be working along the way, this project will grow gradually as we fit it into everyday life. We’re not social scientists, and this is not a formal research study. The people we speak with won’t be a perfectly representative sample of the country. They’ll simply be the people who are willing to sit down, talk, and share their stories with us. Some people may not want to participate, and that’s completely okay. We can only learn from those who choose to take part. If the project grows, we’d love to invite others to help — possibly even as interviewers — so we can hear from more people in more places. ## Recent Blog Posts We’ll share updates through the blog as the project develops.
