Conversations with Americans
about America

We want to hear from everyday people living in America, not from talking heads.

Projects

Our projects are centered around connecting with everyday Americans about topics that we feel are important to Americans. In a few months (in 2025), we are planning an adventure traveling across the US in a van, exploring every nook and cranny of each state and engaging in meaningful conversations with the people we encounter along the way. We imagine having a chat with you over a drink at a local pub, relaxing on a park bench, or by a lake.

We work on several projects simultaneously, giving you the choice to participate in the ones that interest you.  Don't see a topic you think we should discuss? Suggest it!

We hope you will contribute to a project that catches your eye by engaging in a conversation with us or telling us what you think in a questionnaire. We value open and honest discussions, so you are not required to disclose any personal information during our conversations or in our questionnaires, and there is no judgment of you or your answers.

While we do plan to ask some demographic questions, all responses are voluntary. Your contribution in answering them will allow us to incorporate statistical data into each project. However, we completely understand if you prefer not to answer those questions, and there will never be any pressure to do so.

Conversations

The conversations, which are audio-only, will be available here for everyone to listen to.

The questions we plan to ask are listed with each project. We'll begin by asking these questions and then let the conversation flow from there.

Questionnaires

If you can't or don't feel comfortable talking to us directly, you can still participate by filling out a questionnaire instead. The questionnaires have the same questions we will ask in our face-to-face conversations, and we include a free-form field where you can write anything you like.

Dig deep on this one. Can you respect opinions with which you disagree?

There are racist people all over the world, including in America. But is America's constitution and system of laws set up to perpetuate racism?

What media do Americans listen to - and how do they feel about their favorite news source versus the outlets they don't agree with?
